How ranks work.
Every successful rep earns XP. Harder trainers earn more of it. XP moves you up the ladder below - there's no separate score to chase, just the reps you were already doing.
Earning XP
Only reps you actually land count toward XP - a "near" or "wrong" rep doesn't earn any. A good rep on a harder trainer earns more XP than one on an easier trainer - the table below is exactly what a successful rep is worth right now.

The rank ladder
Ranks are based on lifetime XP, not raw rep count - two players with the same rep count can sit at different ranks if one has been training harder trainers.
